Children love the routine and familiar aspects of our classes such as the hello and goodbye music, and of course the tidy song. Equally so they enjoy the excitement of what’s coming next, and what instruments are in the box.
For the first time we have now completed compilation CDs including all your favourite songs, games, dancing music and play alongs for instruments, as well as the hello, goodbye and tidy music. These are to be released in 3 different versions – baby, toddler and pre-school for your little ones to enjoy Music For Baby at home as well as in classes.
Physical Release Date Monday 2nd December.
Digital Release Date – tbc

Our newest Music For Baby activity has been running all summer long, with drop in story and song sessions at Bababoom. It has been wonderful to see so many music for baby children there, along with their siblings older and younger, and lots and lots of new faces too.
A resounding success we have read about 10 of my favourite stories together this summer, and I’d love to hear your suggestions for more ready for the next holiday period.
Wow, we have just completed two amazing concerts with Woodford Symphony Orchestra. Two orchestral concerts for 0-5 year olds that were funded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund enabling us to offer free attendance for families. Each performance contained a mixture of traditional nursery rhymes for the audience to join in with, and some classical repertoire to introduce the little ones to this amazing genre.
We were joined for the event by Mike Eaves on guitar. Mike has an incredible musical CV and has played with the greats including everyone from Shirley Bassey and Chaka Khan to Will Young and Russell Watson, so we were honoured to have him perform for our little ones. Mike lives locally and now does some guitar teaching, you can find out more about him here: www.mikeeaves.co.uk
We were also joined for the event by Gemma Cox on vocals. Gemma studied Voice and Guitar at the University of Reading, and is now living locally and attends Music For Baby classes in Loughton with her 1 yr old daughter Ivy. Gemma performed beautifully, entrancing all with her lilting rendition of Maria Weigenlied amongst other pieces as well as joining in with all the interactive elements.
The whole project was put together by Karen Eaves, who runs Music For Baby classes in Loughton. Karen was animateur on the day, getting the audience involved in clapping and playing activities, and Karen also lead the orchestra on violin for the concert, which was an exciting change for all the little ones who are used to seeing her play guitar and sing in their lessons.
Some wonderful photos were taken at the concert by Alan Eaves, thanks Alan. He also took a couple of videos, so you can see an excerpt of Sheep May Safely Graze for voice and orchestra, and also an arrangement of the Goodbye Song for voice, violin and guitar.
Our taster sessions were fantastic this morning. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the new parents and babies, and catching up with some toddlers I’ve met on my travels into nurseries.
Look forward to seeing you all at the start of the new term
We are really excited to tell you that from next term Music For Baby Classes in Loughton will be moving to a new venue – Bababoom.
We can’t think of a better place to deliver our sessions that the heart of pregnancy, baby and toddler services for the local area. Bababoom is a one stop shop for everything you can imagine in the early years, and it will shortly be based in a new larger premises along the high street. The new store contains a light airy studio which is just perfect for our classes and we can’t wait to get started in our new home.
Music For Baby are delighted to be part of a new project with Woodford Symphony Orchestra. Funded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund we will be delivering a series of workshops in and around Woodford, and then a concert for 0-5 year olds and their families.
The concert will take place on 20th April 2013 and will be a mixture of classical music and more familiar children’s music.
Our popular Loughton baby group is overflowing, so we are delighted to be adding a new Monday morning group. If you have a little one between 4 months and walking then come along and join us at 10:30 am on Monday mornings, starting in the new term in January.
Karen has just begun an MA in early childhood education. Her Bachelors degree in music education was 20 years ago, and Karen has worked in music and education since then. There have been numerous changes and developments in the way we think about music and early childhood during that time, and this Masters degree is focussed on examining the research and methodologies that exist, and undertaking further research. It is based in Birmingham, taught by Dr. Susan Young and Dr. Alison Street, and is the only MA in the country specifically about music in early childhood.
